Firm obtains record results in 2006 - According to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, Kuniholm Law Firm obtained two of North Carolina’s 25 largest verdicts and settlements of 2006, including the largest verdict in a non-commercial case. In Wood v. Alan, Elizabeth Kuniholm and Robert Epting of Epting & Hackney won a $20 million verdict for a domestic violence victim in Orange County – a result with significance that goes beyond the dollar amount of the verdict, according to Liz. “We hoped that other victims would feel hope and empowerment from the plaintiff’s story,” she said, “and know that they can get away from their abusers and hold their abusers accountable.” Also cited in the annual survey was a $2,780,000 settlement in a birth injury case in which Liz Kuniholm and Patrick Balestrieri represented the plaintiffs.
Kuniholm named in "Super Lawyers" - Elizabeth Kuniholm has been recognized as one of North Carolina's "Super Lawyers" for 2007 by Law and Politics magazine, which also named her one of the state's top 50 women lawyers.
Elizabeth Kuniholm and Kim Church contribute to textbook - The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, in conjunction with West Group, has published a six-volume textbook, Litigating Tort Cases. The series, updated annually, brings together the work of many of the country's most influential trial lawyers, and offers exhaustive treatment of procedural, substantive and evidentiary topics in tort law, including a chapter on sexual abuse litigation co-authored by Elizabeth Kuniholm and Kim Church.
Seminars and conferences
Liz Kuniholm was a faculty participant at "Overcoming Juror Bias," a program of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America held in Las Vegas, Nevada in March 2006.
