Katherine brings to the practice a uniquely diverse clinical background. Initially trained as a midwife and childbirth instructor, she has worked as a staff nurse in the Jaycee Burn Center at UNC, in the Pain Clinic at Duke, and with hospice, home health, medical, surgical, orthopedic, phlebotomy, radiology, hematology and oncology patients at Duke and UNC Hospitals.
In addition, Katherine has served as Clinical Research Coordinator for the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology at UNC Hospitals, as Patient Resource Manager for the Gynecology/Oncology Service at Duke, and as Serious Adverse Event Coordinator for an international pharmaceutical research company.
She received her diploma in midwifery and prenatal care from the New Mexico Midwifery Training Institute in 1985 and her nursing degree from North Carolina Central University, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1997. She completed the Medicolegal Death Investigator Training program at St. Louis University in 1999.
She is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing.
She joined Kuniholm Law Firm in 2007, where she assists in case evaluation, development, and litigation.
