Practice Areas › Brain injury
Brain injury assumes many forms and occurs in many ways. Perhaps the most common cause is head trauma, such as from a car accident. Another kind of brain injury, called asphyxial injury, can result from deprivation of oxygen to the brain -- during surgery, for example. Yet another kind, toxic brain injury, can result from a medication error or overdose, or exposure to a toxic substance. We are experienced with these cases, and understand the unique problems they present.
A person who has suffered brain injury may experience changes in thinking, personality, behavior, and physical ability. In some people, these changes are marked and profound; in others they are subtle. Many try to disguise their problems. But even subtle brain injury can have serious repercussions -- physical, emotional, social and financial -- for patients and their families.
We are skilled and thorough at developing evidence of the changes that follow from brain injuries. We can:
* collect records that establish the client's condition before the injury
* interview doctors and those closest to the client before and after the injury
* bring in medical experts to help explain the client's condition and its cause
* engage rehabilitation specialists to evaluate the client's special needs
* help identify resources to meet those needs
* work with an economist to forecast the cost of future care
* provide access to case managers who can help implement rehabilitation plans
If your family member has suffered a brain injury due to the negligence of others -- whether in an auto accident or as a result of medical malpractice -- we invite you to call us to find out how we can help.
